Coming off performing at Israel Adesanya’s groundbreaking AfroSoul Festival in Auckland, ‘Mocha’ sees the Rwandan New Zealand rapper, lyricist and journeyman reuniting with three of his longtime friends from Aotearoa’s African and Caribbean communities, TK Paradza, JessB, and Rubi Du.

Produced by TK Paradza, ‘Mocha’ gives the Middle Eastern-inspired, throwback sensibilities of club Y2K hip-hop/dancehall an upfront bubbling twist. It’s the perfect, smoked-out backdrop for Raiza’s unforgettable bilingual chorus.

Riding the syncopated backbeat with effortless style, Raiza Biza spends his verse reflecting on his wild years, before JessB and Rubi Du slip past the velvet rope and join him. After JessB dials up the bravado on ‘Mocha’ with some real talk for the honeys and the homies, Rubi Du seals the deal. From her first bar, she’s living for the night. Rubi’s here for good times, but, as she reveals, good times are nothing without hard work and a bigger-picture plan.
